By Daniel A. Moore
In Leap of Faith, artist Daniel A. Moore commemorates Jonathan Allen as he flies over a Texas A&M blocker to sack veteran QB Trevor Knight. Other Alabama standouts, Tim Williams, Reuben Foster and Ryan Anderson, will also be commemorated in the background of the painting.
Jonathan Allen, Bama's multi-award-winning defensive player, was likely confident that A&M running back Trayveon Williams would be no match against him in a 1-on-1 physical tangle. So when Allen saw the pass play developing, he believed that Williams would opt for the cut block. Simultaneously, the two players made their moves. From Allen's viewpoint, he described it by saying, "It was a leap of faith." As for Williams, his cut block may well have proved to be a smart "business decision." Consequently, Allen's "leap" planted his nearly 300 pounds of defensive stopping power directly into the chest of Trevor Knight, sacking the veteran QB on the crucial third down play for the Aggies. The Tide's Superman impersonator later reflected on his decision, "I'm glad it worked out!"
Leap of Faith is being offered as signed and numbered Fine Art Lithographs, Giclees and Canvases paying tribute to the Tide's 2016 dominating defense.
